Adam, Fellow to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) - Infrastructure & Disaster Management Division (IDD), Science & Technology Directorate, and Mark Borkowski, Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Technology Innovation and Acquisition (OTIA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection, DHS, as the keynote speakers. The Artificial Intelligence Lab's Dark Web Forum Portal has been selected as a finalist for the Governor’s Celebration of Innovation’s Academia Award. Congratulations are in order for all the AI Lab team members who have made this possible! The winner will be announced November 17th.

Dr. Chen was the 2011 recipient of the IEEE Research Achievement and Leadership Award in Intelligence and Security Informatics. The award was conferred at the IEEE ISI Conference held in Beijing, China, July 10-12, 2011.

MISQ Best Paper of 2010: A paper authored by Dr. Chen and David Zimbra of the AI Lab, Lab alumnus Dr. Ahmed Abbasi, and MIS faculty members Drs. Zhu Zhang and Jay F. Nunamaker, Jr., has been named Management Information Systems Quarterly’s best paper of 2010: "Detecting Fake Websites: The Contribution of Statistical Learning Theory," MIS Quarterly, (34: 3) pp.435-461.

Technology transfer and licensing agreements were approved by the Arizona Broad of Regents for Caduceus Intelligence Corporation (CIC) on June 24, 2011. Caduceus is a UA/Eller/MIS/AI Lab spin-off company that specializes in business intelligence and analytics, with an initial focus on healthcare applications. CIC just received its initial venture funding of $350K.
