   Detective Tim Petersen
began his law enforcement career in Minnesota in 1972. He worked as a patrol officer and pilot for 21 years in natural resource law enforcement and wildlife management. He then moved with his family to Tucson and worked as a corrections officer at the pima county jail for about a year. Tim has been employed by the Tucson Police Department since 1995. He was assigned to uniform patrol duties on the city’s south side for about 3 years, and in 1997 was appointed to the position of Criminal Intelligence Officer. In that capacity he tracked and reported on crime trends and gathered information on the activities and whereabouts of suspected criminals. In 1999 he was promoted to the rank of Detective and worked in the Neighborhood Crimes Section for a little more than a year, investigating a wide variety of crime types. He was re-assigned in June, 2000 to conduct investigations of sexual abuse of children. He remained in that position till October, 2000 when he was appointed as law enforcement lead for the COPLINK Project . In that capacity he provides law enforcement expertise and experience to the AI and Coplink Lab members to direct their research into areas of benefit to law enforcement efforts.
